My wife Sudha used to name every animal she rescued, adopted, or fed.
The names were like “Kalingarani”, “Harikrishna”, “Tony”, “Vettai”, “Poona”, “Kannama”, “Luva”, “Tanvi”, “Raphael”, “Janna”, “Thavakkala”, “Karuupaa”, “Phoebe”, “Ramu”, “Chinnu” and many more.

One such name was “Beauty”. Beauty was a bitch with skin disease and my wife used to feed her every day. She went to great lengths to find the cure for the brutal skin disease the bitch was going through. I remember my wife walking 6 to 7 km every day to feed Beauty. She even tried to find a vet who was ready to come to the place where Beauty lived and treat her (as it was difficult to catch beauty). I used to accompany Sudha on Sundays. The picture above is one of the many pictures I have captured during those Sunday afternoons. I used to click pictures of my wife feeding the stray animals. During one of those stray-feeding Sundays, I fell in love with the beauty who saved Beauty the bitch.

One day Beauty couldn’t be seen and my wife kept searching. I also tried searching for Beauty but couldn’t find her. My wife insisted that she must be hiding somewhere in the bushes due to shyness or illness. We couldn’t find Beauty and we asked the people around the area if they had seen a female dog with skin rashes. Eventually, we assumed that Beauty must have crossed the Rainbow bridge.
One day, I was seeing my wife’s facebook wall on her phone (me and my wife regularly hack into each other’s phone) and found this (below) private post on her facebook wall.
“Karuppan” was another of the stray dogs in Pondicherry that Sudha and her family used to feed regularly. Sudha didn’t say a single word to me about her sorrow but I had seen her sobbing silently a few days before.
Beauty the Bitch, was probably the last animal Sudha named because the pain was probably too overwhelming whenever she heard the name appeared in random conversations.
Beauty was probably the last animal Sudha named because the pain was probably too overwhelming whenever she heard the name appear in random conversations. These days I see Sudha relatively less sorrowful probably because she doesn’t remember any animals by their names.
Sudha is an angel born as human being!!!
